Information and Guidance
First and foremost they are an information point for young people, professionals and agencies to access when there are issues around housing/homelessness. Whether a young person is linked in with their services or not they will always support them to access the service which is right for them and their circumstances.
Nightstop Glasgow
Nightstop Glasgow, a part of the wider Nightstop UK network which is accredited and approved by Depaul UK, provides free and safe accommodation to young people 16-25 who find themselves in crisis.
They place a young person who has been referred into their service in the home of one of their trained and vetted volunteer community hosts while they support them to find a long term solution to their situation. Within a host home they will receive a room to themselves, dinner, breakfast, a packed lunch and a listening ear if needed. There is 24 hours on call support for both the young person and the host from the Nightstop staff as well as two designated check in times, one in the evening and one in the morning. Contact Nightstop Glasgow on 0141 418 6990 or via nightstop@simonscotland.org
The Rent Deposit Scheme
The Rent Deposit Scheme (RDS) supports young people 16-25 to access their own private rented tenancy (PRT). We provide a guarantee certificate to the value of the requested cash deposit which protects the landlord against any rent arrears or damages while we support the young person to pay the deposit in manageable installments over twelve months.
Young people who access the scheme need to be able to demonstrate that they can financially support a PRT as well as have all the necessary independent living skills needed to make it a successful tenancy. Contact RDS on 0141 418 6990 or via laura.batchelor@simonscotland.
Shared Living
The Shared Living service supports individuals 18 and over to access a shared tenancy. People can refer in as a pair or if they are applying as an individual we will match them with someone else based on age, life experiences, life aspirations etc. Shared Living will then support them to access either a private rented tenancy or a tenancy through a housing association.
Shared tenancies allow people to manage the costs of a tenancy because all costs are shared. It also helps address one of the main reasons for tenancy breakdown, loneliness and isolation. Contact Shared Living on 0141 418 6994 or via sharedliving@simonscotland.org
